You don’t usually think much about your plumbing-until something goes wrong. If you are having a problem or are considering replacing some of your pipes or perhaps your water heater, it’s not a bad idea to check into what technology has to offer these days.
Even things as seemingly dull as your kitchen sink or bathroom pipes are the subjects of research on a regular basis. Companies want to stay ahead of the curve, so they create new technologies all the time.
What’s New
What is new in plumbing? Technology comes up with new things all of the time, but there are some latest developments that are piquing people’s interest. One of these things is epoxy pipe lining. This is actually a new trend in repair. It used to be when a pipe was becoming worn and developing holes, it needed to be completely replaced. With epoxy pipe lining, instead of replacing a pipe, the plumber sandblasts the inside of the pipe to remove corrosion and rusting, then fills it with an epoxy lining that seals it and makes it function good as new.
There are also new types of sinks, such as ones that have an extra, filtered tap just for drinking water, and tankless water heaters that give you continuous hot water but are energy-efficient.
Should You Upgrade?
When you find out about something new in plumbing, should you run right out and get it? Not necessarily. Though new technologies have created more energy-efficient appliances and stronger structures, there are still things that you should consider before upgrading. If what you have now isn’t too old, it’s probably okay to wait for a while before upgrading. If you’re interested in being more energy efficient, however, you might want to consider replacing an old water heater, or if your pipes are 10 to 15 years old, you might want to ask a professional about epoxy lining.
Keeping up with the Trends
Even if you don’t want to upgrade right away, it’s still a good idea to stay up on what’s new. When you know your options, you can make better choices when you need repairs or upgrades, or perhaps if you’re having a new home built. Do a little research now and then to find out what’s new and available.
No doubt they’ll be coming out with even more new and exciting plumbing technologies in the near future, and it’s always good to know what they are. Be wise about your choices, but know all your options.
Doesn’t it seem like every day there is some new technology affecting the way people communicate with each other? Blogs, Text Messaging, RSS Feeds, Podcasts, and other emerging technologies are coming at us fast and furiously, which can be overwhelming at first glance. But upon further inspection, all of these new technologies are really good news for small businesses!
For the first time ever, consumers are shaping how they want to hear messages from companies large and small. In the past, companies have relied on tried-and-true advertising methods such as TV ads, newspaper and magazine print ads, radio ads, and billboards, all of which are expensive and beyond the budgets of most small businesses. Studies are now reporting that these traditional forms of advertising are increasingly ineffective with today’s consumers, who are already empowered by technology. They often prefer newer ways of receiving content such as the web, wireless devices, cell phones, etc.
So how is this good news for small businesses? Because using new technology to reach a small business audience is not only effective, it is also quite inexpensive compared with more traditional forms of advertising. Today’s consumers are typically comfortable with technology, and have an expectation that information will be molded and delivered to fit their needs and preferences.
Small businesses can take advantage of this trend by using web marketing, online shopping, blogs, text messaging, or any combination of new methods currently available for delivering content to customers and potential customers. Using emerging technologies is effective, it’s inexpensive, and after all — that’s good news for small businesses!
Let’s look at new technology from Microsoft. The new coffee table will change the world as we know it. The next generation of computer interfaces will be hands-on, forget the keyboard and mouse. It’s time for the touch screen.
Windows Vista introduces a new programming model that provides a range of new capabilities and a new set of development tools for the graphic designer and developer. Set yourself free with Microsoft Expression Studio.
There are a lot of retail business scenarios that motivate more interactive kiosks. Microsoft has a number of applications available that can provide a dynamic platform for kiosk scenarios, especially for the retail industry.
The surface has no cables or external USB ports for plugging in peripherals. For that matter, it has no keyboard, no mouse, no trackball – no obvious point of interaction except its screen. When you take a digital camera and place it on the Surface, digital pictures instantly spill out onto the tabletop.
The same applies to using a cellphone on the surface and dragging photos to it – just like that, the pictures upload to the phone. It is like a magic trick. You can drag and drop virtual content to physical objects.
Virtual PC software is changing the computing landscape. It can help you save time and money and achieve more with the computer resources you have. Virtualization lets one computer do the job of multiple computers.
Resources of a single computer are shared across multiple environments. Virtual servers and desktops let you host multiple operating systems and applications in local and remote locations, freeing you from limitations.
In addition to energy savings and lower expenses due to more efficient use of your hardware resources, you get high availability of resources, better desktop management, increased security, and improved disaster recovery.
